Back in the fall, a couple of our dear friends asked me if I would take some portraits of them, since they did not have much of an opportunity to get the images they really wanted at their wedding. This is something that is near and dear to me because I have experienced more than one wedding where the couple did not get the best possible images due to scheduling constraints on the wedding day, or some other restriction that probably could have been avoided. I always stress to my clients the importance of making time (and I mean more than 10 minutes) to get great images during ideal conditions on their wedding day. It’s their day, and it only happens once. The guests will be fine waiting a little while longer to eat; I promise nobody has ever starved to death at a wedding.

Ok, enough of my soapbox, but hopefully I made my point Meet the lovely, incredibly sweet Kara & Matt. They are two of the gentlest, most sincere people I know and Amanda and I are so thankful for their friendship!

Washington Trip

My wife, Amanda, and I were lucky enough to be able to travel up to Washington back in October to visit some dear friends and get some time away from the hustle and bustle of life in Dallas. Several of my college roommates and their wives live in Spokane, WA now and have started a church there. We had a wonderful time in lovely Spokane, as well as seeing some of the farms and orchards in the surrounding hillsides. We were also able to get over to beautiful Coeur D’Alene, Idaho for some hiking around the lake. After a few days on the east side of Washington, we drove west to Seattle, stopping along the massive Columbia River to stretch our legs and take some photos. We spent a day or so in Seattle, then headed out to the Olympic Peninsula to spend a couple of days in the forest. It was so peaceful and relaxing, and we were able to do some hiking in the mountains around Lake Cushman, which was absolutely gorgeous. After a few short days in the Pacific Northwest, we pretty much fell in love with that area, and would be delighted to go back. Lauren & Scott

Lauren and Scott had their wedding at Royal Lane Baptist Church and their reception at The Room on Main in downtown Dallas. Even though a serious Texas thunderstorm blew through minutes before their ceremony began, Lauren was totally calm and relaxed and we were still able to get some great shots outside once the rain stopped. They are one of the sweetest couples I have worked with, and their genuine passion for other people is infectious. They know when to have fun and when to not take life too seriously, and their wedding and reception was quite the celebration!

Amanda & Drew

Amanda and Drew had their wedding and reception at the Van Cliburn Recital Hall and McDavid Studio in Fort Worth. They are two of the kindest and most fun loving people I have been fortunate enough to work with, and shooting their wedding was a true joy. They chose to do a “first look” which gave us plenty of time to get some nice portraits of just the two of them, and their reception was a blast with a live band and plenty of dancing.

Amanda’s Bridals

Amanda was one of the most relaxed and easygoing brides I’ve had the pleasure of working with. We shot her bridals at the Cotton Mill in McKinney, and she was up for pretty much whatever shot or location I suggested. We had a great time shooting with some gorgeous light, and I think that the results speak for themselves!
